Who are we?
We are a casual and inspired grassroots group of Virginia early childhood education advocates who began collaborating following the 2023 National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) Public Policy Forum in Washington, DC.
What do we do?
We support and educate ourselves as early childhood education advocates. We celebrate and guide our colleagues in local, state, and national advocacy efforts. We meet regularly by Zoom and get together in person for action at local and state events throughout the year.
What do we offer?
We offer camaraderie, support, and education about advocating for early childhood education. This can look like:
sharing our individual and collaborative efforts in our local, state, or national advocacy efforts,
asking one another for advice in specific advocacy efforts,
gathering together to lobby at the Virginia General Assembly,
connecting at local and state conferences,
hosting storytelling workshops to develop stories for advocacy,
visiting each other’s early childhood programs,
volunteering at tables and booths to raise awareness for local, state, or national early childhood education needs,
zoom discussions about what is most relevant to advocate for in our field today,
learning about EC-related legislation,
contacting our local and state representatives, and more!
What is your story?
Storytelling is the most effect form of advocacy. Your story holds value and can inform decisions being made by policymakers. What is your story for the Early Childhood field?
